VMCreate.exe

VMCreate.exe can be used to quickly create Hyper-V virtual machines from the following «curated» virtual machine images (as of March 2024):

• Windows 10 MSIX packaging environment
• Windows 11 dev environment
• Ubuntu 18.04/20.04 and 22.04 (all LTS)

The Windows 11 dev environment is an evaluation copy of Windows 11 Entrprise with:

• Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition with UWP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows App SDK for C# workloads enabled
• Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 enabled with Ubuntu installed
• Windows Terminal installed
• Developer mode enabled

Other evaluation versions of Windows that can be installed with VMCreate.exe include:

• Windows 10 Enterprise
• Windows 11 Enterprise
