The PowerShell preference variable $PSEmailServer specifies the default SMTP server for the PowerShell cmdlet send-mailMessage.

dnsdiag.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Resource Kits\Tools) is an SMTP DNS Diagnostic Program.
