SQLServer: SQLIOSim

This blog post strongly stresses that SQLIOSim is not an I/O performance tuning tool, but rather an I/O stability testing tool.
The files that are created have (if not changed) .mdx and .ldx extensions to prevent accidental overwriting of data files and log files (which have .mdf and .ldf extensions).
