Visual Studio platform toolset

The platform toolset consists build tools such as

• compiler
• linker
• assembler

It also includes libraries.

The binaries are stored in one of the directories below %VSxxxCOMNTOOLS%\MSVC\%VCToolsVersion%\bin.

In order for these executables to work correctly, some environment variables need to be set.
