Taskbar

The Taskbar consists of

• Start menu
• Taskbar buttons
• Toolbars (optional)
• Notification area
• Quick launch bar (Windows Vista and earlier only)
• News and Interests, an extremly distracting rectangle that tells me if its sunny or raining (which I can also see when looking out of my real window).

The keyboard shortcut win+t cycles through the apps on the taskbar.

News and Interests can be removed (hidden) from the Taskbar by setting the registry value ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode to 2 under the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds.

In Windows 11, the position where of the taksbar is displayed (left, top, right or bottom) can be controlled by the value of Setting in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3.
