Bitcoin mining

Miners are special nodes that create Bitcoin blocks. In order to become a miner, one has to solving computational puzzles (see proof of work).

Mining pools

In order to mine bitcoins more efficiently, it's probably best to join a mining pool.

When the pool, using their combined effort, has successfully mined bitcoins, they're divided among the pool members.
